Was I reading the same book as everyone else? This book started out fine. The romance between the two characters was sweet and when they got together I was happy. But wait...that was just half the book. Had it stopped there, i would have been happy too.

No, we had to have the conclusion of who was stalking her. Okay. Soon the culprit was found and all was well right? No! During this the couple had problems and the main girl just got kinda of, well, sad. But after they got the bad guy all was good. Until...there was another bad guy? Huh? This last part was just painful to read and I put it down a couple of times but picked it back up becuse it had to get better. It just had to. This poor woman was being drugged and molested by some wacko we didn't even know to look out for. Why does this woman need more drama? She stops eating and begins to incorporate her boyfriend into her drugged dreams making her afraid of him. So he moves out. What the hell is this? This is not a romance. The wacko takes her and she is almost killed but is saved by the boyfriend's bro (he just shows up out of nowhere). So the story ends with her half dead from mental anguish and physical trauma that the wacko heaped on her, then her and her man get back together.
No. No. No.
This book was sad, sad, sad. I've read Shakespere that was less tragic than this poor girl's story. I only gave it 2 stars because I somewhat liked the begining. Skip it if you're into HEA endings that are satisfying and don't cause your main characters to become seriously messed up. (I mean with her history, I don't see how she could even think about having sex again or getting back with her man without serious mental counseling.)
Not even going to read the next book or any more of her books if they're anything like this one.

This was a heart wrenching, but yet heart warming story. I could not put it down. The characters of both Devon and Luke were complex and multifaceted, and the story of their histories, was very intriguing. Devon had a very difficult childhood, her parents died very young and she lived with an aunt who wanted the money from her inheritance instead of truly wanting to be there for an orphaned little girl. The aunt's husband molested Devon at about 12 years old and then raped her. The "uncle"'s abuse was fond out and when he was found guilty the aunt kicked Devon out. Devon became an addict and finally was adopted at about 13 years old. She has many scars both physical and emotional from her childhood, and the abuse.

Luke was a Ranger and has seriously hurt on his last op in the Rangers. He also has some emotional scars due to the op that went wrong and a twin brother that he met at 11 years of age. Their mother abandoned Luke at birth, but "kidnapped" his brother Quinn(the twin) and was abusive to him. She ended up dying from a drug overdose, and Quinn went to live with his Dad and Luke. Quinn became very bitter, cold and non trusting of others. He also became a ranger.

The story centers around a relationship between Luke and Devon and the fragility of the relationship due to Devon's issues from the past. She also ends up having a stalker, and is hurt by the stalker leaving Luke feeling guilty for not protecting her, even though he had done so much to protect her. She becomes severely withdrawn, and traumatized by the attack. Due to the fact that she is not dealing well with healing from the attack she breaks it off with Luke. She feels that she is becoming paranoid and feels that she is being watched and followed, even though the stalker was killed during the attack.
I don't want to wreck the ending of the story, but the suspense and twists and turns that the finale brings are truly shattering.

This book was great on so many levels, the amazing feeling of really knowing the characters, seeing their love form in their relationship, the suspense of the stalker and subsequent plot twist. This book made me think, feel, had drama and suspense. I really needed a book of this caliber and Shiloh Walker did not disappoint!!!

I thought I'd read all of Shiloh Walker's Hunter novels that were released in paperback, but I was wrong. Having now read Hunter's Edge, I am sad I missed it when it was first published and delighted to have read it now. This is a wonderful book with a few editing issues but the errors don't adversely affect the story.

While not a typical romance, love is the base of the tale. Love brought two children together. Love kept them together and tied them together. Love was behind Kel's fight for Angel when true evil touched their lives. Love drove their journeys. What a wonderful, wonderful story worth every bit of 4 1/2 stars. I absolutely love Shiloh Walker and always look forward to her books.
